AUTHOR ETHICAL RESPONSIBILITY

Authors who submit a study to GAÜN-HFD are expected to comply with the following ethical responsibilities:

 

  • The study submitted to the journal must have an original nature in the field of law.

  • The author or authors must correctly cite the sources they used during the writing of the study in accordance with ethical principles. The necessary explanations regarding citations are explained in the GAÜN-HFD Writing Rules text.

  • It should be stated that the studies submitted to the journal have not been sent to another journal and a Copyright Transfer Form should be filled out.

  • Persons who do not contribute to the study should not be indicated as authors. The author or authors who sent the study are responsible for any ethical violations and legal consequences in this regard. No proposal should be made to change the author responsibilities of a study whose evaluation process has started (such as adding an author, changing the order of authors, removing an author).

  • Authors should not submit studies that they have published elsewhere or submitted for publication or more than one study at the same time to GAÜN-HFD.

  • Persons with a conflict of interest or common interest regarding the study for which publication application is made should be notified to the editors and the reason should be explained.

  • Authors should contact the editor to inform, correct or retract any errors they notice in their studies that are in the evaluation and early appearance stages or have been published electronically.

  • Authors should provide evidence in the study file that they have taken care of ethical principles during the data collection process (such as obtaining permission from others to use their scales, surveys, photographs, etc.). It should be stated that research and publication ethics and copyright regulations for intellectual and artistic works are complied with in the study. If the research was conducted on human and animal subjects, it should be stated that the research was conducted in accordance with texts containing basic rules such as international declarations and guidelines.

 

ETHICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF EDITORS

GAÜN-HFD editors, assistant editors and editorial board members are expected to comply with the following ethical responsibilities:

 

General duties and responsibilities

  • The members of the Editorial Board are responsible for the healthy conduct of the publication process of all studies submitted for publication in the journal. Within this framework, the members of the Editorial Board must make decisions independently and in the public interest.
  • The members of the Editorial Board strive to continuously develop the journal and increase the quality of publication.
  • The members of the Editorial Board ensure that the journal policies such as publication, refereeing, evaluation process, and ethical principles are determined and implemented.
  • The members of the Editorial Board strive to meet the information needs of authors, referees, and readers about the journal and the publication process, and prepare informative guides on this subject.
  • Taking precautions against possible misconduct and abuse of office: Editors are obliged to take precautions against possible misconduct and abuse of office. In case of complaints regarding this situation, they conduct an objective investigation and share the findings on the subject. In this context, if an unethical behavior or content is encountered in GAÜN-HFD outside of the ethical responsibilities mentioned here and these, it would be appropriate to report this situation to gaunhfd@gantep.edu.tr via e-mail.

 

Duties and responsibilities towards authors

  • The editor should constantly update the publication and writing rules and the sample template regarding what is expected from the authors.

  • Unless there are serious problems, the submitted work should be taken to the preliminary evaluation stage. During this process, if it is decided that the article needs to be reviewed again in terms of grammar, punctuation and/or writing rules (margins, proper referencing, etc.), the authors should be informed about this and given time to make the necessary corrections.

  • Authors should be notified and responded to in an explanatory and informative manner.

  • Editorial Board members should take measures to prevent unscientific and unethical behaviors such as plagiarism and citation ganging.

  • Editorial Board members take into consideration the original value of the articles, their contribution to the field, the validity and reliability of the research method, the clarity of expression, and the purpose and scope of the journal when making any decision regarding the articles (publication, rejection, etc.). The editor or the editorial board cannot take into account the race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, thoughts and beliefs of the authors for any reason.

 

Duties and responsibilities towards referees

Referees should be determined in accordance with the subject of the study.

The information and guidelines that referees will need during the evaluation phase should be provided.

It should be considered whether there is a conflict of interest or a common interest between the authors and referees.

Referees should be encouraged to evaluate the study in an impartial, scientific and objective manner.

Editors seek to ensure that the referee pool consists of a wide range of people and is constantly updated.

 

Duties and responsibilities to readers

The editor or editorial board members must clearly state the type of articles published in the journal (research article, decision review, etc.) and whether they are peer-reviewed.

The editor or editorial board members are responsible for taking into account feedback from readers and providing explanatory information.

The editor or editorial board members must ensure the integrity of academic publication. Action must be taken to correct errors, inconsistencies, or misdirections in articles.

 

ETHICAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF REFEREES

All articles sent to GAÜN-HFD are evaluated through a double refereeing process. The referees are required to fill out a form that includes their decisions on the contribution of the article they are evaluating to the field of law, whether the article is publishable or not, and the reasons for these decisions.

 

People who act as reviewers for studies submitted to GAÜN-HFD are expected to comply with the following ethical responsibilities:

 

  • Referees must accept to evaluate only articles related to their field of expertise.

  • A referee who is invited to conduct a peer review must inform the editor as soon as possible whether he/she will be a referee for the relevant study.

  • Referees are obliged to evaluate works impartially and confidentially.

  • Referees cannot share or use information contained in a work they are assigned to review with others before publication without the explicit permission of the author.

  • Referees must inform the editor and decline to be a referee for the relevant article if they discover any conflict of interest or unity of interest.

  • The tone used by referees in the Referee Evaluation Form they prepare must be polite, respectful and scientific. Referees must avoid derogatory personal comments that contain hostility, slander and insult. If it is determined that referees have made such unscientific comments, they may be contacted by the editor or the editorial board to reconsider and correct their comments.

  • Referees are required to state their decisions on whether the article they evaluated is publishable and the reasons for their decisions in the Referee Evaluation Form.

  • Referees are required to complete their evaluations within the time period granted to them.

  • Referees must inform editors if they notice any publications that are similar to any previously published work or information.

 

PUBLICATION POLICIES

 

Article Submission Stage

The work sent for publication in the journal must not have been published or sent for publication anywhere else before.

The copyright transfer form must be filled out and sent along with the work sent for publication in the journal. Within this framework, no royalties will be paid to the authors. Authors accept that all publishing rights and financial rights, including all formats, on the published works belong to GAÜN-HFD.

 

Article Preliminary Review Stage

All works sent for publication in the journal are examined with plagiarism programs. As a result of the examination, the plagiarism/similarity rate can be up to 25%. Works with a plagiarism/similarity rate above 25% are returned directly to the author by the editor without being sent to the referee.

Works sent for publication in the journal are first subject to a preliminary evaluation by the editorial board in terms of the conditions stated above. During the preliminary evaluation phase, the authors must complete the corrections requested by the editorial board within 15 days. Otherwise, the editorial board has the right to reject the work without contacting the author.

 

Referee Evaluation Stage

Works sent for publication in the journal will not be published without receiving the positive opinions of the referees (two referees) or without providing a new text containing the corrections suggested by the referees. If one referee gives a positive opinion and the other a negative opinion, the work will be sent to a third referee.

The period granted to the referees for evaluation is 20 days, and this period can be extended for another 20 days if necessary. If the referee evaluation report is not sent within the period, GAÜN-HFD Editorship will appoint a new referee without contacting the referee.

 

COPYRIGHT POLICY

Studies sent to our Journal for publication must be original studies that have not been published in any way before or sent to be published anywhere else. When submitting their studies, individuals are obliged to declare that the study has not been published in whole or in part on any other platform before and has not been evaluated for publication. In the event of a contrary situation, the author will be held responsible for the situation in accordance with the relevant sanctions.

 

Authors who will send a study to our journal must fill out the "Copyright Transfer Form" document. Authors must sign the form with a wet signature. The signed form must be scanned and sent to our journal with the study files during the initial application.

 

Authors who wrote works;

  • The submitted article is the original work of the authors,

  • All authors have individually participated in this work and take full responsibility for this work,

  • All authors have seen and approved the final version of the submitted article,

  • The article has not been published elsewhere or has not been submitted for publication,

  • The text, figures and documents in the article do not violate the copyrights of other persons,

  • The Dean of Gaziantep University Faculty of Law allows the copyright arising from all kinds of publication, printing, presentation, distribution and presentation in electronic media of the article to be used without any restriction,

Accepts and guarantees.

Except for the above-mentioned issues, the authors' intellectual property rights such as patent rights other than copyright, the right to use the entire article in their works such as lessons, presentations and books without paying any fee, and the right to reproduce the article for their own purposes provided that they do not sell it are reserved. The use of any part of the article in another publication is permitted provided that the work published in GAÜN-HFD is clearly referred to in the relevant publication.

 

Authors;

  • “Gaziantep University Faculty of Law and the journal editors” have no responsibility in any claims or lawsuits filed by third parties due to copyright infringement,

  • There is no criminal element or illegal expression in the work,

  • No illegal materials or methods were used during the research,

  • All legal permissions related to the work were obtained and ethical rules were followed.
