Students from Gaziantep University (GAÜN) Faculty of Law organized a trip to Ankara to strengthen cooperation with judicial institutions.

Organized by the GAÜN Science Councils Society, the trip included visits to important state institutions such as the Presidential Library, the Turkish Bar Association, the Council of State, the Council of Judges and Prosecutors, the Constitutional Court, the Court of Cassation, the Turkish Academy of Justice, the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), and the Public Ombudsman Institution, as well as historical and cultural sites like Anıtkabir, Ulucanlar Prison, the War of Independence Museum, and the Republic Museum.

During the visits to public institutions, GAÜN students were informed about the functioning and processes of each institution by authorized personnel. Experienced staff from the legal, judicial, and prosecutorial professions, as well as high-ranking civil service positions, shared their professional experiences with the students. Question-and-answer sessions were held between the institutions to provide students with detailed information about their operations.

GAÜN students also learned firsthand about the workings of high-level courts such as the Court of Cassation, the Council of State, and the Constitutional Court. During their visit to the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), the students closely examined the legislative process and the internal workings of the institution. They toured the TBMM General Assembly Hall, gaining valuable experience regarding legislative activities.

At the Public Ombudsman Institution, a meeting was held with the participation of Chief Public Ombudsman Mehmet Akarca and Public Ombudsman Özcan Yıldız, where information was provided about the concept of ombudsman and the functioning of the institution. Students had the opportunity to learn detailed information about the institution's areas of activity and sample decisions.

Gaziantep University students represented their university at the institutions they visited, presenting plaques. They also visited historical and cultural sites in the capital, including Anıtkabir (the Atatürk Mausoleum). The students were also given a tour of the Middle East Technical University (METU) campus, and their contributions to the establishment of GAU were explained. 18/04/2026
