The "23 April National Sovereignty and Children's Day Program," prepared by Gaziantep University Faculty of Law and Faculty of Fine Arts, was held at the GAÜN Atatürk Cultural Stage.
Gaziantep Deputy Governor Salih Altınok, who gave the opening speech of the event, spoke about the importance of April 23rd National Sovereignty and Children's Day, stating that it is the only holiday in the world dedicated to children. Deputy Governor Altınok said, “Do not think of this gift as a personal gift; it is a trust, the most correct decision of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades to entrust this Republic and this parliament. If they had wanted, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades could have succeeded with military methods. They knew very well that no power is stronger than the national will. They acted with this awareness, and with this awareness, they established the national assembly before the start of the War of Independence, thus securing the will of the people, and only then did they begin the struggle.”

GAÜN Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ayşe Balat addressed the students, saying: “You are the fortunate children of this country because you are the generation to whom a great leader has entrusted the future; therefore, your existence is extremely important. This is the first holiday in the world dedicated to children; please appreciate its value. You are the future doctors, engineers, and politicians; you are the human capital that will cause this country to rise again in the future. Know your worth; we love you very much.”
GAÜN Faculty of Law Dean Prof. Dr. Esra Siverekli said that she enjoyed being together with the students on the occasion of April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day, and thanked those who contributed to the event.
